Artagan Pastoral Unit

The ARTAGAN Pastoral Unit is constituted by the parishes:

  • Saint Mary of Begona
  • Our Lady of Uribarri
  • Saint Mary of Goiuri
  • Holy Cross

Currently, in the parish of Begoña we have a process of catechism. The catechetical process is divided into four courses. During the 2018-2019 academic year, there were 92 boys and girls with 11 catechists in Begoña. Also, there are six accompanying people.


  • Boys for Unity: A group of about 23 kids between the ages of 10 and 14. They are accompanied by about 6 managers. They meet in the parish of the Blessed Sacrament.
  • Zurbirrintzi: Eskaut group with about 32 kids between the ages of 8 and 14. They are accompanied by five monitors. They meet in the parish premises of Ugarteburu (Begoña).
  • Confirmation groups: A group of about 8 girls accompanied by three leaders meet in Begoña.


This area is made up of people who live their faith in an organized way, in more or less stable or structured spaces. They are Christian reference groups, training, movements, communities, etc.

  • Catechumenate Group: It is a group of about 17 people that meets in Begoña.
  • Group of the Focolare Movement: Participates in various pastoral activities.
  • Groups of Father Pio: It is a group of about 18 people that meets in Begoña.
  • General Catholic Action: EKO-ACG – Diocese of Bilbao. It is a group of 6 people.
  • Brotherhood of Our Lady of Begoña


  • Father/mother catechesis groups: The fathers and mothers of the children in catechism meet once a month to grow in their faith and help their children in the catechetical process. There are 8 groups in total.
  • Post-baptism group (0-6 years): Group made up of about five volunteers who accompany five families with children aged 0-6 years in awakening in faith.
  • Marriage Ministry Group: Made up of five volunteers. They organize pre-marital meetings and promote groups with newlyweds.


There is a group for the dynamization of the liturgy made up of three leaders. In addition, there is a formation group in liturgy made up of about 15 people. They meet monthly to line up and prepare for the celebrations, especially at important times. They are accompanied by a priest.


  • Aditu: A group of 15 people who carry out reception and listening processes in Begoña.
  • Health Ministry: A group of 8 people that meets in Begoña.
  • Mission Group: A group of about 20 volunteers that meets in Begoña. They support missionary projects and prepare the Christmas Market.
